The title really says it all, but without romanticising my love for media and production, I want to share with you why I love it as much as everyone should. Media makes our world go round.

Since being young I fell hard, fascinated by actors portraying characters and more specifically how they were magically cast and made into this perfect, believable person, each with their own stories and life, behind a television screen. It's almost so realistic that I pondered, is TV just another plane of life? As I grew up, I quickly realised that however imaginative and amazing that idea would be, it really wasn't that straightforward; and here birthed my passion for TV production and the wonders of casting. I truly do get excited by the thought of sitting behind a panel, knowing the character descriptions inside and out and auditioning until that one person rocks up and fills everything you've been dreaming about for the past few months! Take Breaking Bad for example, I've watched Jessie Pinkman's audition tapes way too many times, but it never fails to excite me as you see young Aaron Paul act out the bare script in a way that he was almost made for the role - it's all fate you see, fate which I NEED to witness myself.

My love for casting, has not and will not fade anytime soon, I'm sure of it - but it has never limited my passion for other aspects of media and production. So now it's time to talk about my special relationship with music and in particular, music video production. I have sang, played guitar, piano and ukulele for as long as I can remember and since learning how to film and edit to a professional standard I've realised the power of pairing both my love of music and production together (and of course, casting still involved somewhere along the line). Being able to listen to a piece of music and letting my imagination run wild, creating a story, setting the lights, locations and editing around this one song is magical. I want people to feel the power of audio and visual imagery paired together. I mean how can you not love music videos, they're basically short films, filled with comedy, emotion, romance, you name it, they're all out there to watch. Stemming from this, I do also have a great passion for TV sound design and I feel like working with sound has always been a sort-of natural talent, innate some might say. I'm really hoping that some day soon I can gain some experience in this field of work and I sure will keep you all updated if I do!

So now you know a little more about me and my media relationships, it seems like the perfect time to introduce my future blogs: I will be talking about specific music videos and their production and impact on me and also media with stand-out sound design. Alongside these posts I will speak about casting choices within TV which drive narratives and audience-character bonds. I'm going to share with you my personal projects and my progress as I venture into the media world and I can't wait to open up to you all.

Keep reading and sharing your thoughts too.

Ash :)
